Explore SynPhony, an open-source project to assist in the literacy acquisition process. This project is still in the design stage, but it will incorporate the principles of synthetic phonics used in this site and offer the ability to track user's reading progress.

HEAR THE SOUNDS which introduce the 44+ sounds (phonemes) in the English language. Hear the same phonemes modelled in all positions in the words

This short article considers the role of the mentor in developing content literacy skills for beginning teachers, and presents a six-point strategy that both mentors and teachers can use to foster academic language in the secondary classroom. The six strategies are: Vocabulary & Language Development; Guided Interaction; Metacognition & Authentic Assessment; Explicit Instruction; Meaning-based Context & Universal Themes; and Modeling, Graphic Organizers, & Visuals.

Children should be able to read in English before they are given textbooks in this languaje covering a content subject.
