Dear CLIL colleague,

Fireworks, bonfires and toffee apples mark November for us here in Oxford as we get ready for the historical marking of Guy Fawkes night tonight and further festivities this weekend. The new content on onestopclil this month will be sure to add a sparkle to your lessons and ensure that they too go off with a bang!

Further to the series on Language for CLIL in conjunction with the Cambridge TKT, Kay Bentley  discusses lower and higher order thinking skills, otherwise known as LOTS and HOTS. With examples of LOTS and HOTS at both primary and secondary level, Kay looks at the importance of these in the CLIL context.

Focusing on such visual strategies for learning as Tick Charts, Venn Diagrams and Grids these materials offer several activities that will help students to make decisions and organise information while learning about a particular subject.
