Profile Information

Why are you interested in bilingual education?
I am doing research into teachers' language development needs. I work at EOI Móstoles, where we've already taught courses for teachers at bilingual schools. Though being Spanish, I speak English to my two daughters and have enjoyed watching them grow in both languages.
What's your experience on bilingual education?
As an EFL teacher of adults, I'm mainly concerned with the language needs of non-native teachers at bilingual schools, esp. those using CLIL methology.
My daughters attend a bilingual school and I try to support their learning at home.

Hi Cleo,

If you're interested in using technology for learning English online, I recommend you take a look at Wiziq's virtual classroom and authorstream's power point presentation platform. Both are web based platforms, have a bunch of features and free basic service.

I am very happy that you wrote to me. I am doing a doctoral research about CLIL about I am investigating the CLIL competencies of the subject teacher. I am doing a comparison between Ialy and Spain therefore it is very important for me to get in touch with person like you. I'like also to upload my questionnarire but it is important for me too to get it filled by subject CLIL teachers. Maybe you can help me with Spanish teachers?

Lauretta d'Angelo has sent me a message telling me she's doing research about the competencies of the subject teachers in CLIL. I told her you are doing a related research to hers. She's doing a questionnaire to Spanish and Italian teachers. I hope you don't mind me telling her to get in touch with you.

Back from Tallin. It was a macro conference and we enjoyed it very much. Some pearls and gems can be read on the conference blog: http://clilfusion.wordpress.com.

Maybe in your group you'll be interested to have a look at the CCN (CLIL Cascade Network Platform): http://www.ccn-clil.eu. It is under construction, but there are already some resources and everybody can contribute to them. To access the content users have to go through registration, but it doesn't take long. Spread the word!!

Thanks for your comment. I'm also an EOI teacher. I have my post in the EOI Barcelona-Drassanes, although I?ve been on secondment for quite a long time now at the Department of Education.

H Cleo,

I think that it's great that you use English at home with your daughters. I grew up bilingual, but mainly use English with my daughter at home in Los Angeles, California. NOw, when I try to use more Spanish with her she tells me not to say it in Spanish, but in English. I'm afraid I did not start the habit of using Spanish early enough with her. SHe's now 3 and 1/2 years old. What do you think?
