Hi Isabelle! I'm raising my son bilingually, too. It's interesting, challenging, funny/frustrating...! I'm an American living in Italy.

Hi Isabelle,

We are in similar situations - I'm Scottish, teaching English in France, with three English-French kids in primary and secondary school.

Hi Isabelle,
It´s funny to hear a story like yours. A French woman teaching Spanish in Wales. It is great isn´t it?. I´m amazed at people who can speak more than two languages. To me English is enough.
I am teaching Science in a bilingual project to 12-13 year-old students. This is my second year. It is hard ( I am not a English techer) but it is rewarding as well.
I have a 15-yaear-old daughther who is learning English. We have been in Ireland several summers. My goal is she gets good level of English without making to much effort.

Hi, Isabelle.
I agree with you. Imagine myself, a native speaker of Spanish speaking English to my sons!! Crazy!! It sounds very strange to people. But I don't care, I go on my idea of speaking English to my sons and it's being a nice experience for the moment.
As I have mentioned before I use English as a means of communication with them, though they answer back to me in Spanish. Everybody speaks Spanish so they don't speak English. They understand what I say to them and they are able to repeat and say something in English.
I don't really know what will happen in teh future, I mean, I don't really know if they'll use English but ... I love the idea!!

They're 7 and 9 years old. I'm Spanish and they go to a bilingual school, so that's a great help because they use English in their social environment, not just at home with me (my husband doesn't speak English). In your case, I suppose it'll be easier, since they'll be seeing their French relatives!
Warm regards!

Hi Isabelle,
I teach English for adults and I'm currently doing research on teachers who work at bilingual schools in Madrid. I also have two daughters (7 and 9) and I've spoken English to them since they were babies, so we have quite a lot in common! I worked as a Foreign Language Assistant in Wolverhampton (a long time ago...). Do you live near there? We'll be in touch

Hi, Isabelle.
I'm happy to hear there are so many people involved in learning languages.
I see you are living in England so I think it is far easier for your children to be bilingual. I'd like to share with you ideas on bilingualism and I'd appreciate any help on the subject. Thanks.
