- Why are you interested in bilingual education?
- I'm a bilingual myself in Spanish and English and I'm interested in how I can teach and function in both languages with my 3 year old daughter because my stronger language is English and I tend to use it more as a crutch of communication. In the meantime, I feel that my daughter is missing out on learning both at the same time because my husband is monolingual in English.
- What's your experience on bilingual education?
- I have visited a couple of schools where content material was taught in Spanish before the recent proposition banning it was passed. There is something to be said for giving the students a chance to transfer the language from their native tongue to English, but at the same time there is a fear that it might not ever be reinforced enough to become part of their active communication in English.

Thanks for your comment. You might like to see what I've written in the "Raising Bilingual Children" on this platform. I did start using English with my girls when they were younger than yours, but living where you do, maybe you could find a bilingual school where she could socialize in Spanish, too. I'm sure she'd be proud to see that her mum can use that language... The more different contexts you can provide, the better it'll work.
