- Why are you interested in bilingual education?
- I think bilingual education and CLIL can help improve both language learning and subject learning if it really focusses on meaning rather than on form. To do so, however, effective methodology needs to be applied, i.e. Task-Based and Cooperative Learning-Based as far as possible. In other words, it is important that the teacher gives pupils/students tasks that engage them in problem solving and in a process of discovery, rather than in listening to teacher talk. The potential for learning is enormous...
- What's your experience on bilingual education?
- I am a CLIL researcher, a consultant and a teacher trainer. I started research on CLIL in 2002. I have been involved in numerous consultancy jobs and in TT/TDevelopment courses in the past 5 years. I have published a book on the results of my research in CLIL projects with schools (... e allora.... CLIL!, 2008) available for free through www.iprase.tn.it
